All solutions are implemented by adhering to the latest NRS 052 regulations

The last published edition of NRS 052 “Photovoltaic systems for use in individual homes"  Preferred requirements for use in the Electricity Supply Industry” was released in 1999.

During this period the Department of Minerals and Energy at the time, launched the off-grid concession program in South Africa, and the NRS 052 documents were used to install  Solar Home Systems as part of the program.

Over the years Eskom had developed NOG SCAAI7 “Technical Specifications for the Main Components for Photovoltaic Systems for Schools” which was used for the purchase of more than 2,600 school systems over the last few years. as well as NOG PVAAY1 “ Installation: Procedure, Code of Practice and Ancillary Equipment for Photovoltaic Systems for Schools”. Both these NOG documents have now been made obsolete and their technical content has been incorporated into the latest NRS 052 draft.

This revision was undertaken to keep abreast of the latest technology developments as well as aligning the specification with best practices, current regulations (viz. SANS 10142-1) and international standards.
